My name is Laurie Bates, and I'm a senior manager with FedEx. Well, currently I've been with FedEx for 33 years, but most recently my job is called senior manager of our complimentary supply department which is responsible for controlling those white and purple and orange packages, that packaging we give to our customers for complimentary use with our services. There's a cost to us, so somebody kinda manages making sure that what they order is what they're actually ending up shipping with us. That's what my department does. They're the overnight letters, the courier packs, boxes, different size boxes that we give to customers who ship what we call our express service, which is an overnight service. So if you ship with us, we give you the packaging. Well, I have a group of, I have a couple of managers, about 60 agents that work in different centers, mostly in the Northeast, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Rhode Island, et cetera. We coordinate with the orders that come in through either you call in an order or you get online and you say you want your packaging. That creates what we call is a queue. Goes into my group. They look at it and identify if it matches what you shipped. If it does, we just fulfill the order, ship it. If not, we give you a call up and just say, "Hey, what's going on? "Are you having something new going on?" And if they say, "Oh, yeah, we just signed on with you guys," then we happily send them the supplies, 'cause we want their business. That's what we do. I'm salaried of course, so I work whenever they need me. I do control my own hours to the best of my ability, but it is whenever I'm needed, mostly during the week, but we do of course when things come up and you need to work late or work weekends, that's what we do.
