Growth & User Acquisition Intern — Settlyfe (AI-powered housing marketplace)
Settlyfe is an early-stage startup building an AI-powered housing marketplace — connecting renters, landlords, agents and service providers across the whole moving journey. We are pre-launch. That means we have a product and almost no users, and the job is to change that.
This is an acquisition role, not a brand role. Your one job is getting real renters and real landlords onto the platform, and knowing which channel actually did it. You would report directly to me, the founder.
What you’ll do
- Own user acquisition end to end — pick the channels, run the experiments, report the numbers.
- Go get our first renters. Campus housing groups, Facebook Marketplace, Reddit, Discord, student orgs, flyers if flyers work.
- Go get our first landlords and property managers. Cold outreach, local groups, partnerships.
- Run paid tests on a small budget and tell me honestly what the cost per signup was.
- Build the referral and invite loops so users bring users.
- Track signups, activation and retention weekly, and kill what isn’t working.
What we’re looking for
- You’ve actually acquired users for something — a club, an event, a business, a side project, your own account.
- You’re comfortable doing unscalable things: DMing strangers, posting in groups, standing outside a dorm.
- You can read a funnel and say “this step is where we lose people.”
- You’d rather run five scrappy tests than write one perfect plan.
- Some familiarity with Meta or Google Ads, or a real willingness to learn them fast.
Nice to have
- SEO, email, or lifecycle marketing experience.
- You’ve grown a social account or community from nothing.
- Interest in housing, cities, or how people find a place to live.
If you don’t match every bullet, apply anyway. I care far more about what you have actually grown than about your resume.
The honest details
- This internship is unpaid. I’d rather say that plainly than bury it.
- We support academic credit and will work with your school on the paperwork.
- Full time 30-40 hours a week, or part time at 20 hours a week minimum. Flexible around your classes. Remote, and San Diego locals can join us in person.
- You leave with real acquisition numbers you can point to, and a founder who will take your reference call.
How to apply
Send your resume and one short note: something you got people to sign up for, and how you did it.
