Position Title: Human Resources/Operations Intern

This internship requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per week for ~6 months in the New American Pathways’ Office with some opportunities for remote work.
New American Pathways is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit that helps refugees from the moment of arrival in Georgia through their journey to citizenship. Our specially designed programs provide proven pathways for refugees and other immigrants to realize their full potential and dreams as they build new lives. Our comprehensive model is unique. We begin with resettlement services and offer steady guidance and advocacy for each family as they pursue jobs, education, cultural integration, individual and female empowerment, and whatever each person needs on their pathway to succeed. General Description:
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Human Resources Intern to join our dynamic HR team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various HR functions and contribute to our organization’s management and employee engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support HR & Operations Dept
- Intern will support the HR/operations department with various tasks assigned; including but not limited to-administrative duties, front desk coverage, office management, event/meeting support, staff support, and IT issues.
- Convert paper filing into an electronic database
- Review existing employee files and organize them on the F drive.
- Assist with processing Contractor timecards
- Collect Contractor Timecards and prepare them for processing
- Assist with onboarding New Employees
- Intern may assist with new employee onboarding/orientation as assigned.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives
- Intern will assist with the implementation and management of our employee engagement initiatives
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong organization skills; the ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, etc)
- Submit to criminal background check
- Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity
- Interest in working with HRIS systems and/or Payroll
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to collaborative decision-making and cooperative working relationships with New AP staff and community partners
- Pursuing a degree in one of the following fields is preferred: Human Resources, Business, Nonprofit Management, Psychology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Counseling, Sociology, or Human Services related fields of study
- Applicant currently classified as a Junior, Senior, Graduate Student, or recent graduate are preferred
