Job Overview:
Azazie’s Design team is the driving force behind our brand’s commitment to beautiful, authentic designs with quality materials and construction. We are seeking an entry level Assistant Designer to join our growing design team! This position reports directly to Azazie’s Lead Designer/ Associate Designer and plays a key voice in contributing to the creative process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works alongside Azazie design team during the development stage.
- Research market trends/inspirations/ new colors (driven by Design Director)
- Work with the design team to develop flat sketches and initial concepts (Adobe illustrator flats preferred)
- Create tech-packs (with detailed instruction) for bridal, bridesmaids, and other categories
- Help execute concepts of the designer with critical attention to detail and sense of urgency to meet departmental deadlines.
- Correspond with designers throughout development (update sketches/provide corrective instruction)
- Manage development charts (Writing product descriptions/ web info)
- Assist in reviewing lab dips, and print strike-offs.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Azazie products (major categories,as well as supportive categories)
- Assist Associate Designer with fabric organization and color catalog.
- Update line sheets bi-weekly.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- Must present an online portfolio of design work with Illustrator created sketches.
- 1+ Years of experience, which includes fabric sourcing, technical design, fabric development.
- Timely sense of trends and market research encompassing color, fabric, and silhouette.
- Strong fashion aesthetic and conceptual skills, upholding Designers vision for collection.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills with the design team.
- Eager and driven to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and take on additional projects and tasks as needed.
- Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, draping, and sewing.
- Experience designing for dress categories, evening wear, or bridal
- Strong eye for detail.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
