Congressional Black Caucus Institute – Fannie Lou Hamer Government Relations Fellowship

An amazing opportunity…

Last year, the Congressional Black Caucus Institute (CBCI) launched the first of its kind Government Relations Fellowship, answering the call to diversify lobbying firms and corporate government relations offices.  The program is designed to create a pipeline of Government Relations and Public Policy professionals.  This Fellowship answers the call by Congressional Black Caucus members to diversify corporate government relations departments and K- Street lobbying firms.

The fellowship expands career path options for law students beyond the traditional practice of law and graduate public policy students. The CBCI-FLH Government Relations Fellowship will bring together emerging changemakers from HBCU’s and MSI’s throughout the country. The 8-week program will provide an overview of the lobbying/government relations field through courses offered by the National Lobbying Institute for Ethics. Fellows will be placed in government relations offices through partnerships with corporations and he Washington Government Relations Group and The Washington Heads of Office; the two premier lobbying associations for African Americans in government relations.

Program Vision
Diverse, qualified students with the proper foundation can influence public policy at all levels. Since government relations aims to persuade government officials to craft viable policy solutions to today’s issues, it is our goal for this to be an enriching experience unlike any of its kind addressing the lack of diversity among lobbyists and government relations professionals.
